Facial biometrics: the face matched against the ID

At account opening, the face captured with liveness is matched against the ID photo. The result comes back with the score, the threshold and the gray zone that goes to review.

From ID to decision

  1. Receive the ID

RG (Brazilian national ID), CNH or passport, from your application or from Catalisa file storage.

  2. Read what the ID carries

The passport MRZ with its check digits (ICAO 9303) and the QR code on the digital CNH. Expired IDs are rejected if the policy says so.

  3. Extract the portrait

The face on the ID becomes the reference for the match.

  4. Match

1:1 match against the captured face. Below the reject threshold, it fails; between the thresholds, it goes to human review.

What the policy decides

Every change is logged and shows up in the receipt of the sessions that follow.

The ID once, face enrollment after that

An ID photo is the weakest reference: printed, old, with glare. That's why account opening can save the person's face enrollment (enrollOnApprove) — and later authentications match against the face we captured ourselves, with a measured similarity of 0.95.

Run your first verification and read the receipt.
